Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Tsien have received the Nobel Prize for the discovery and application in cell biology of the green fluorescent protein and its family members. Using appropriate equipment, subsequently formed tumors, their development and eventual distribution in the organism can be followed in the living animal over time. |
